Claudia van Dijk and Arden Rzewnicki invite women to come and give birth in the Amsterdamse Bos. In their program Opnieuw Kijken they call for a reorientation of the way we bring new life into the world.
Together with (future) parents, Rzewnicki and Van Dijk create a birthing space where babies can be welcomed in the Amsterdamse Bos. Lectures and workshops address both the practical needs and the meaning of a birth space and create opportunities for examining the birthing process. What do we know about birth, and what is the basis for this knowledge? How do we wish to receive the next generation?
Arden Rzewnicki (USA, 1978) is a designer and artist and Claudia van Dijk (NL, 1972)) is an artist and midwife. They met through pregnancy, and this was the beginning of an active exchange and profound research into birth and the foundations of the system within which birthing takes place.
